In general i am a huge fan of horror. I actually was introduced to horror manga by a good friend of mine. Junji Ito, I would say is the person who really kicked off my interest into horror. Before my exposure to Junji Ito, I really enjoyed terrible (i mean absolutely terrible) horror movies like Detention (2011) and Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey (2023). Part of what was so interesting to me about Junji Ito was the amount of detail he added to his art. Every manga was worth every penny I would spend on it. Junji Itos works sparked my interest in general Japanese horror. It broadened my sense of “what horror is”. I proceed to learn more about japanese history and about the reason that japan has such a nihilistic view in much of their media. Later I expanded into other cultures view of horror including Korean, and Taiwanese.
